Improvising with a Felt Pelt

Posted by

I've made a few shawls from our new Felt Pelts but last week I really started playing around.  We received the Ecru Pelts which really got me thinking about embellishing them.  So, I cut one in half and overlapped two of the raw edges.  I needle felted along the raw edge on each side and then started exploring.  My studio is filled with odd ends of yarns from various projects and lots of yarns I have collected over the years.  I rummaged through the bags and found some gems I thought would be good for embellishing.

I played around with shapes and different ways of attaching the pieces to the felt.  Our Sajou linen thread was put to use for both creating forms and attaching them.  The resulting shawl caught the eye of an actor I know, and to my great surprise she bought it as soon as I posted it on FaceBook!  I love improvisation....and now off to do some more!
